Hampshire Conference Bureau to increase conferences and events in Portsmouth
“In a bid to increase conference traffic, and to profile Portsmouth as the destination to hold events, the Hampshire Conference Bureau held a familiarisation event for conference and event agents across from the UK.
The event took place over the weekend of Friday 14th-16th October 2016, and saw agents introduced to a variety of venues across Portsmouth.
Starting at the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel on Friday 14th October, guests were welcomed with a Conker G&T and canapes on arrival, followed by a sumptuous dinner accompanied by a pianist.
Guests stayed at one of three participating hotels: The Solent Hotel & Spa, Holiday Inn Portsmouth or Holiday Inn Express Gunwharf Quays, each boasting different benefits.
On Saturday guests enjoyed breakfast, followed by a tour of Portsmouth Guildhall and a networking lunch with various Portsmouth venue representatives. Guests then enjoyed a leisurely afternoon, with opportunities to explore the shopping at Gunwharf Quays, revel in the city’s culture at the Historic Dockyard, or relax with a stroll along the waterfront.
Saturday evening consisted of a drinks and canapes reception and a tour of No Man’s Fort, the unmissable venue with a 150 year history. After returning to dry land, everyone soared to the top of the 110m high Emirates Spinnaker Tower for a buffet reception with a view.
The weekend concluded with a final night at the hotels, and guests had the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely Sunday at some of Portsmouth’s best attractions including the D-day Museum, Charles Dickens House, Emirates Spinnaker Tower or the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
