Alresford

The pastel coloured market town of Alresford lies eight miles to the east of Winchester. The town’s Georgian buildings, riverside walks and chocolate-box cottages are unlike anywhere else in Hampshire. Alresford’s semi-rural tranquility make it a great place to host a conference or event.

Once a prosperous wool town, Alresford is now the centre of the country’s watercress growing industry, which is celebrated each May at the annual Watercress Festival. Thousands of visitors descend on the town for a one day extravaganza of food, drink and entertainment.

The town’s top attraction is the historic Watercress Line steam railway. The train works its way through ten miles of rolling countryside taking passengers from Alresford to nearby Alton.
